sHitz.fm Still the Shittiest Radio Station in Malaysia

Before Fly FM and Red104whatever existed, there was this cool new station called sHitz FM which played more current hits than that dreadful old people’s station Radio 4. From 2001 until today, they claimed that they’re still Malaysia’s no. 1 hit station. Well, probably most of their listeners are idiots and knowing that our country is full of them, their claim just might be true. Let me adjust that a bit. Malaysia’s no. 1 SHIT station, pwned by ASSTRO. Ah, much better. Now it all makes sense to me now!

I personally don’t listen to Malaysian radio that much, or any kind of radio for that matter so my brilliant opinion here might be biased as opposed to those who listen to this fucking station every single day especially during their commute time. Here’s why sHitz.fm hands down wins the shittiest radio station in Malaysia, according to a genius called me.

1. Record breaking song repetition in a day

Compared to other crappy Malaysian English stations, sHitz.fm are notorious for playing the same fucking songs over and over and over and over again. Their market is so freaking saturated that most of their idiotic listeners (apparently most of the goddamn Malaysian English speaking population) think it’s cool to tune in to sHitz.fm as some sort of coolness safe net. You don’t want to be caught with Radio Satu on your car stereo when someone entered your car right? What do you do? Tune in to 92 point fucking 9! People will instantly think, oh he’s so cool because he listens to sHitz.fm! Fuck y’all.

2. Association with Vandal

Who is this guy again? One day I accidentally tuned in to sHitz and this dude was giving a fucking public service announcement about not to vandalize public property to Malaysians. Great. All we need is a failed Canadian rapper who can’t even make it in own country then came to Malaysia and gives us good advice about vandalism, being his name is Vandal. The irony within the irony in that sentence is beyond ridiculous. And apparently, us Malaysians, who think everything coming out from Mat Salehs are cool, treated him like a fucking superstar. No wonder his shitty song Kay-El (oops I puked in my mouth a bit typing that) is a big hit among the locals, because there’s noone better to sing a song about Kuala Lumpur than a Mat Saleh right? I guess we feel more worthy of a human being?

3. Jason Lo

I’m sorry but I just fucking cannot stand this guy at all. The moment he opens his mouth I feel like instantly hanging myself. I think the only funny trick he got in his sleeves is making lame Malaysian accents. Okay, we get it, you’re half caucasian so that means you can make a total mockery of average Malaysians of whom are below you while the rest of us still find it funny as hell! I’m laughing so hard I’m gonna puke blood. Not enough with voicing over shitty PSAs and numerous ads on sHitz.fm, he did have his own talk show called Latte@8 a while ago, which is about half an hour full of nothing but Malaysian accent jokes and boring crowd who think that hanging out with Jason Lo is cool. Genius.

4. Lame ass ‘Gotcha’ calls

Gotcha calls when first introduced in the Morning Crew might be a good idea but after a while, it gets stale fast like your neighborhood Mamak’s curry. They’re just so fucking caught up with their own jokes sometimes, it’s pathetic. I don’t know why people still listen to this crap and best of all, the one who being pranked always kinda guessed who’s on the other line within few seconds. Who else speak good English with accents other than sHitz.fm people because apparently, the rest of us speak like Jason Lo’s ‘funny’ Malaysian accent all the time! That’s so duh right? So I hereby crowned Rudy & JJ of sHitz.fm morning crew, Jason Lo’s wannabe, and that’s a pretty disgusting title to have.

5. Stupid CSAs and Festive Reminders

I am so pissed hearing sHitz.fm pointless PSAs, CSAs and other seasonal bullshit since last year that I totally forgot how shitty they were . If memory served me right, the most ridiculously stupid seasonal reminders aired during Merdeka period. Jason as usual with his lame Malaysian accent jokes. Brilliant right? We all need to hear that from time to time, it’s like we’re nothing without someone make a mockery of the way Malaysians talk. It’s like the French making fun of their own accent! Uniquely Malaysia, I tell you. Unfortunately, I cannot elaborate more here because one, like I mentioned I forgot how pathetic it sounded like and two, I don’t listen to sHitz.fm anymore. Anyone with a transcript will be much appreciated.

There you go, folks. There might be a gazillion more reasons but this pretty much what I can come up with right now. Malaysians will still continue to listen to the shittiest radio station in Malaysia because apparently everyone think it’s kinda cool to do so. And no, listening to Fly FM, doesn’t make you any better because they’re just as shitty, only less stink.

    If you think Hitz.FM repeats the songs, wait till you listen to FlyFM. They repeat the same song every 1-2 hours. It’s like they have this recycle play list that won’t get renewed. And their traffic report sucks, totally inaccurate

    I feel it when you talked about Jason Lo and Vandel or whatever that shitface stands for… but I have to disagree about the morning crew coz I kinda love their sense of humor compared to other djs who tried hard to be funny. Okay..I too think that their gotcha call is way overexposed and overated but other than that I just like the chemistry between Rudy and JJ.

    The cd player in old battered car had expired a year ago…so i have to gotta rely on ‘em frigging radio stations for some entertainment when stuck in traffic. If you have a spare cd player pls donate to this needy wahwah k?

    It’s always easy to be critic! But try putting yourself into the shoes of those who spend hours on end trying to perfect the art of radio!

    Yes, I said it, it’s an art! And like art, it takes acquiring! Not everyone is gonna like your form of art, not everyone is gonna have the same taste in art as you! Just like wine, it takes an acquired taste to enjoy! In your case, I’d say its safe to say that you have yet to acquire the taste of FORMAT radio!

    But I must also say… Bravo! You have an opinion that you’ve expressed on your blog site. That’s your right… I’m all for freedom of speech on the net. But you’ve gotta know the truth as well… no matter how bitter you might find it!

    To you, FLY & HITZ are stations that you hate to listen to! But let me just tell you for every person that hates listening in, there’s about 10 more that love it! As the saying goes, “One Man’s Meat Is Another Man’s Poison”! So if you don’t like it then “CHANGE THE STATION”! It’s not that hard to do really, just take your finger and search for another station! With so many channels, we’re sometimes spoilt for choice! So if you don’t like one station, you can switch to another! If you don’t like the DJ on one station but love the music on the station, then switch stations when they talk or when there are commercials. It’s so easy to complain but you’ve gotta ask youself this, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT”. If your answer is nothing, then you don’t deserve the right to critisize!

    Believe you me, it’s not easy setting up a station that everyone in the country will love and that’s why AMP/ASTRO has 3 different formats of both English and Bahasa Malaysia stations. To scratch away your taste itch!

    THIS IS THE TRUTH… you can either accept it or ignore it but no matter what you do or say or write, your blog is only ranting with no basis whatsoever and it’s not gonna change the way anyone thinks or feels about private radio!

    Personally speaking, I rather listen to song repeats on FLY & HITZ then to listen to non-stop talking upto 10 minutes sometimes on Government Radio Stations. So my choice is to switch between private radio stations. I switch whenever they talk, it’s not so difficult to do, maybe YOU SHOULD TRY IT TO SOMEDAY!

    I actually agree this time with you Crap. Aside from calling HitzFM, ShitzFM, we all should call it PopShuvit FM or ShoveTheCockShuvit! FM. I hate how this station is operated…. they keep playing their own band and their cronies a lot… eventhough their music is crap… such as fucking pimply Altimet who’s music is so generic that I nearly vomit when I hear it… Perhaps PopShuvit could use my vomit to lube their dicks when they masturbate… If they’re such a effing English station why should they play a Malay track? They think they know all… They are not DJ’s! They are fucking retards who should just be called as fucking announcers… They’re music is not that great, and so many people dislike them and I fuckin wonder how they always make it into Malaysian English Top 10… and can’t they find propers DJs with good english at least? Oh yeah, people with good english are not relevant to the local market, broken english is in because most Malaysian only understand broken english…that’s why PopShuvit FM only hire celebs trying to be DJs and people who’s daily rantings have influenced young people into speaking crap English just like them…. bodoh la…. And what the fuck with them always playing Che’Nelle’s I fell in love with the dj and hurry up??????? and why is she the only full english artist who gets airplay on XFresh FM when XFresh is supposedly only plays Malay songs (Because Che’Nelle recorded her hit song in Malay is it?)… I hate it so much when Malaysians don’t give enough opportunities and support their local talents need but when they make it big somewhere else, but ONLY they start claiming them when they are thought to have made it…. ugh…. Che’Nelle is old la, she is not Fresh anymore so XFresh should stop playing her song… Lets boycott AMP radio stations… They’re crap… managed by idiots who think they know it all… and all that… puhlease… I hope they find this… and raise ur ratings Craplicious… (Your Welcome).

And i have to agree Hitz.fm is a shitty radio station, having lived in malaysia for 6 years, but most of the song they play (and re-play) can be listened to. Other radio stations: a good song followed by some bullshit.

    just some comments here, actually you guys just cannot blame too much for the shitty radio station.First of all, it is not easy to run media company here in Malaysia, and about radio station, basically all radio station in M’sia is variety format, we just don’t have station like other countries, esp US,that provide only specific genre of music and content. Really,we cannot compaint too much, but i do think that fly fm, hitz.fm anf whatsoever fm here have the area and space to improve.And to the haters.yeah the choice is in your hand you can just switch to another station or just turn it off.It is the mainstream thing, commercial radio station, what can you expect more?indie music?not really, they serve to please general public,and of cuz we don’t have that much of choices of stations.

    Thank you very much for expressing what I have been penting up for years. It was in 2003 when I heard Crazytown’s “Butterfly” five times in a day on Hitz.fm that I decided to give up Malaysian radio.

    I thought that by switching to Mix, Fly or even Red would be better but they too are slowly turning to the same repetitive instrument of propaganda of capitalists.

    So, my solution was to buy my own CDs and songs & listen to it whenever and wherever I want rather than being told by these DJs that they play the music “you want!”

    One dream I have is to get rich and use that money to fund my own radio station so that I can teach Malaysians the beauty of non-commercialized trash. My playlist would be Meet Uncle Hussain’s “La La La Kerjalah” sandwiched in between The Devil Wears Prada’s “Dez Moines” & Explosions In The Sky’s “Greet Death.” I mean if a radio station could do that, I’d die for it!

    First of, great job on making a total mockery of yourself :) I sure hope to god that you’re not Malaysian. It’ll be so embarrassing for us Malaysians to know that someone with a mental standard as you live amongst us.

    The thing that struck me the most about your entry is that you must be some really really bitter person for you to go on and on ranting about what a total flop these people and the radio station are. And for you to mention that you’re a genius and how your opinion is brilliant is just the cream to your very tortured soul.

    I advice you resolve the issues you have with yourself first before bashing other people and what they do for a living. So what if they repeat a few songs more than once or make stupid jokes? At least their making money out of it. Tell me, how much money are you expecting to get out of writing this horrendously poor entry anyway?

    And p.s/ you need to work on your grammar, man. If you understand malay, entry you english berterabur tau tak?
